Visually Impaired Parent Support Group with Outlook Enrichment via Zoom
6-week Parent Support Group: Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., starting Aug. 27

With the school year quickly approaching there is a sense of unease from many families who have members who are blind and visually impaired. For many parents, this past spring was an eye opener to just how unprepared the school districts were to provide remote teaching to the youth of our community. Even more so when it came to accommodating those with special needs not only the student but to their support systems at home.

“How do I help my child with homework when I can’t access the homework or even know how to use these apps.” Has been a question posed to our Adaptive Technology Program. Outlook Enrichment is here for families to provide technology training to parents and youth needing additional supports during this uncertain time we can work with families on accessing technology and programs. As well as come up with creative solutions on how to accommodate your vision loss while helping your loved one navigate these new uncharted waters in distance learning.

To further aid families we will are offering a support group for blind and visually impaired parents so members can interact and talk about the issues they are encountering assisting their children face these new challenges and trouble shoot solutions with both peers and Outlook Enrichment staff.

Should you need some instruction on using Zoom or have additional questions about our programs and services contact Paulette Monthei Program Manager at 402-973-0505, or to register below before our first Aug. 27 meeting.
