There’s nothing like a live performance to transport you to a different place and time through the lighting, costumes and scenery. Yet if you’re visually impaired, you miss out on the visual pageantry of the show.
Cue audio description.
Audio description allows those with low vision to more fully enjoy live performances and events through a verbal description. A single earpiece is connected to a personal headset receiver that lets you listen to a trained audio describer verbally depict the action on stage as it happens. Only you will be able to hear the voice of the describer.
Though the service is offered free to visually impaired patrons, it must be requested in advance with ticket purchase.
Through Outlook Nebraska’s collaboration with different venues in Omaha and Lincoln, the generosity of our donors and grants from The Enrichment Foundation and the Gary and Mary West Foundation, we are pleased to enhance the live performance and event experience for our low vision clients and friends.
The following performances will offer audio description for those who need it. If you wish to use the service during another show, please call the venue to request it and purchase tickets at least two weeks in advance production.
