Community members, friends, family,

Outlook Enrichment is here to help members of our community living with vision loss and blindness. With many of our clients and associates having conditions that make them more susceptible to COVID-19, we are closely monitoring the situation and have made many changes to protect all of those we serve and care for.

Our facility is now closed to the public to protect Outlook Collaborative associates who are still working there. However, we are still offering adaptive technology training, but now remotely by telephone. We’ve loaned equipment to some so they can continue this training at home during this difficult time. Our clients continue to learn technology that will help them stay connected to resources they need even more now, like apps to order groceries and prescriptions delivered, do their banking, text and access social media to stay connected and informed, and develop skills needed to find meaningful work. We will continue to evaluate additional ways to offer this needed training to additional people remotely.

We’ve cancelled recreational and cultural programs for the foreseeable future. We are staying in close contact with the live performance venues so we can reinstate our audio description service as soon as the shows start again. Our group recreation programs have been cancelled through the end of March. We know these programs offer a much-needed social connection and will bring them back as soon as it is safe for everyone.

In this time of uncertainty, we want to continue to be an anchor for our clients. We know that many of our visually impaired friends are at greater risk medically, live alone, and often have limited mobility. Our team is reaching out regularly by phone to see how they are doing and connect them to any resources they many need. By collaborating with our Vision Resource Coalition partners, we can ensure our friends and neighbors with limited vision are cared for during this crisis.

We are optimistically planning for our June 4th Tee It Up Fore Sight and the Stanley Truhlsen, Jr. Blind Golf Clinic. Registration for sponsors and golfers is open at outlookne.org/golf. Your support and participation are needed more than ever.

Our team will continue to work from home as much as possible to reduce their exposure and the exposure of the Outlook Collaborative associates that continue to work. You can still reach us by phone and email.

Looking for ways to help? Your financial support will help us be a steady force for our friends during this difficult time – getting them the help they need now and being ready to resume the activities they love as soon as feasibly possible. We will need volunteers to help with our activities as soon as we can start up again.

Our hearts go out to those who have friends or family that have become ill. The next few weeks will be challenging, but together we will make it through this difficult time. Thank you for supporting your neighbors living with vision loss. We couldn’t do this without you.

Sincerely grateful,

Donna Aman
